For the universal energy system, it needs to be shown that characters' spells scale to their physical stats, but is it acceptable if these physical stats are only against magic?

For example, characters can physically withstand Tier 7 spells. But this physicality is only against spells. So any non-magical attack that is tier 7 will kill them instantly.

So magic increases the user's physicality, but only against spells.

Is this appropriate for the universal energy system? Or is it not?
 
Case by case, but this can often be prone to game mechanics. And it's common knowledge that even if the cause of a spell is purely magical, it does change the fact that they often have physical effects. Magically causing a tier 7 explosion would still be a tier 7 physical effect, and various RPGs treating physical defense and magical defense as two separate stats both overlooks that and also fails to acknowledge high HP is still something that leads to someone being durable both ways.

Though, there are canon non-game mechanic cases where some characters have superhuman durability against demonic and spiritual attacks but regular physical weapons and terrain stuff showcase the character in question having normal level physical strength and durability. Or that Tier 7/6 spiritual powers tend to only work on demons. But I would probably treat that as either a more limited energy system or non-physical energy system if superhuman durability tends to be oddly specific to the same type of magic.
