what a terrible ******* performance, if this is how theyre planning on playing next game they might as well quit while they're ahead

shoutout cv for their tenacity

CV can be proud of themselves for making this far, ngl. Hope they got qualified for the next WC again. But, Idk about their GK considering he's like 40.

It's not even as if Argentina played differently than what they were doing throughout the tournament (which is the bigger issue)
Any other keeper (Zidane lmao) and this would be 3-0 in 60 minutes
Austria is the only other team to test them defensively and they failed to take advantage

Massive respect for Cape Verde though
Finished the campaign without losing in 90 minutes despite facing Spain, Uruguay and Argentina

So now it turns out that scoring fewer goals than your opponent means losing. Losing is being dominated; not winning isn't losing. Cabo Verde simply had bad luck, Argentina didn't win, nobody sees Argentina as the winner, people just respect Cabo Verde more after this match.

I don’t think Argentina performed badly.
They were hard decent if being honest, vozinha was just in god mode today.
Cape Verde’s two goals looked like a ‘try your luck’ typa shot. The first goal had an xG of 0.05, and the second was 0.03. Cabral aint hitting that type of bliss curl normally.

ATM, Columbia is leading on Ghana, what could possibly go wrong

Their physicality was exposed and they have limited chance creation outside of messi. Brazil, England or Colombia could outwork them.

Paraguay turning a France match into a snooze fest💔
And Paraguay are out.

Hope that low-block was worth it. Multiple players out, penalty conceded thanks to depth, and Mbappe laughing them out of the tournament with some glee. Plus a Paraguay dude with an Mbappe Dictator shirt. PEAK.

Brazil isn't outworking Argentina LMFAO (Danilo Santos and Marquinhos against him? Instant hattrick conceded) and neither is England. Colombia definitely could tho, Brazil and Argentina won't meet until the semis.

Argentina seems to have gone overboard with the added extra time tho, a couple of their key players got injured too. If Egypt can do something amazing and Norway **** up big, Brazil just might get to the final.

TBF Cabo Verde shouldn't just be written off as a fluke, most of their players weren't born on the actual island itself, a good chunk of them were born in Europe (A lot of them come from Rotterdam in the Netherlands LMAO) and trained in the most elite football academies there. That's true for most African nations nowadays, some more than most.

Sometimes they get a chance with France's already-stacked squad, sometimes they don't and they represent nations via their family, or just choose to willingly represent other nations than France and instill quality there.

Paraguay nearly scammed something there
Until the pen, France's only goal threat was Rabiot and Kone taking long range shots

Paraguay weren't scamming anything as long as Kounde and Digne didn't screw up. Good game from the CBs, particularly Upamecano, won back the balls cleanly and even got to ragebait the Paraguayans into fouls despite taking a blow or two to the chest. TBF tho, France should've played Doue for this one from the beginning instead. The kid came on and instantly got the penalty with how rough those Paraguayan thugs were playing, after that it was France's turn to play dirty football.

Your forgetting that the Argentinians can be targeted on the flanks. Vini is having an amazing tournament the RW side is having troubles but you never know with Don Carlo.

Yes Doue should have started and when the game became more open Barcola should have come to stretch the pitch further.
