Actually, it isn't just Emerl being Sonic's exact copy, it's also Emerl with all Seven Chaos Emeralds, all of the powers of the cast of Battle, and the absorbed power of the Final Egg Blaster.

Sonic went from Solar System to Galaxy level immediately.

Then we have Classic Sonic going from Classic Stats to modern stats immediately.

Sonic's AD is accepted as specifically rising to match his foe (with growth after that being slower), given otherwise he should've stomped Emerl, as his Classic self has AD showings that cover even greater gaps.

For said showings, his Classic self being able to keep up with his Modern counterpart in Gens and Forces. Forces also has Classic one shot a Chaos clone right after showing up, fight the Egg Dragoon, and assist in the fight against the Forces Death Egg Robot
