Maxima enraged with pure psionic energy alone was feeding Captain Atom so much energy he was afraid that he was gonna Leap through the Quantum and everything would be lose.

This doesn't really mean much, as Captain Atom's time leaps can be triggered by any amount of energy he absorbs too quickly ESPECIALLY with his mental limits on.

During this time, he could be sent time leaping by Nuclear bombs, planet level blasts and so on. It was only after he learned how to regulate energy that his time leaps became nearly non existent (like absorbing Major Force or helping to absorb Parallax's chronal energy.)
