As he is an Old One, shouldn't Asura's power exceed the 8 tier? In fact, physically he is one of the few people to fight his father Death head-on as depicted in the manga and anime, more so in the latter. Plus, as even Black☆Star admitted that he could not beat him alone, Asura only lost against group effort.

Even series creator Okubo has stated on his Twitter account that Asura is far stronger then both Kid and Black☆Star, who were both 8-A at their respective zeniths of power, and mercilessly beat both of them up badly in the anime's final fight. So physically, should he be around the 7-tier level?

Then there is Asura's Madness Wavelength, which all Old Ones possess and is reason for a mass majority of villains popping out of the woodwork upon his revival. The range that Asura's influence had on an entire planet while healing on the moon should be seen as an feat on itself. Shouldn't that be somewhere between the 6-tier to 5-tier level?

Beating two 8-A would warrant an "At least 8-A"

Affecting the planet from the moon would be a range feat, not an AP feat.

True, but no one had yet did calcs of Lord Death and the other Old Ones yet and some of them have displayed abilities beyond the 8-tier. So at the moment, shouldn't that warrant "At least 8-A or higher?"

As for the Madness Wavelength, its AP comes from influencing human behavior which would be a form of environmental damage. In the case of Free and Erueka, who were totally unprepared for the wavelength itself despite its lessened potency, they nearly committed suicide as a consequence of getting close to a sealed Asura. In fact, Franken Stein mentioned in chapter 23 that Asura's madness wavelength could incite natural disasters.

What feats did they do that were beyond 8-A? I only watched the anime which only adapted the first half of the plot or so.

Madness Wavelength sounds like really good hax rather than AP. "Inciting natural disasters" is pretty vague, to vague to gauge tiers off of.

Well if you have some of these feats and ask for them to be calced then yes that would warrant an upgrade.

Hmm...that sounds more like hax than AP...

Well, I did find this Respect Kishin Asura on Reddit if it and its source images help.

https://www.reddit.com/r/respectthreads/comments/3tc4ao/respect_kishin_asura_soul_eater/

These are what I got from the physical feats section, which bring up consideration to upgrade Crona's durability to Multi-City Block level due to the Black Blood...

  • When first unsealed, Asura completely no sells Black Star's soul wavelength (8-B at the time) before he casually one-shots both him and Death the Kid (also 8-B at the time).
    • Casually tanked attacks from Kid and Black Star.
  • Broke through lord Death's barrier.
  • Blocked a sniper's bullet and retaliated from the moon.
  • Strong enough to physically break Black Star's arm with one hit.
  • Strong enough to punch clean through Maka's torso (8-A), tanking her Genie Hunter in the anime.
While the manga states that Asura can never die as long as fear exists in the world, the anime presents the notion that his physical form can be destroyed if hit by an attack fueled by courage strong enough to counteract his madness.
