I Have recently just purchased Super Mario Odyssey and during my Gameplay of it, there appears to be a lot of simularities between the Power Stars And Power Moons, One of these are the fact Power Moons are used and seen as energy sources and Cappy confusing a Power Star as a Power Moon. Another thing i've found is that In the Mushroom Kingdom you can refight Previous Bosses on harder Difficulty and each boss has a new Multi-Moons.
The Game also introduces new Warp Pipes Made of Moon Rocks that leads to more Power Moons, Sometimes they lead to closed rooms and other times they lead to Open Spaces where Stars are visible in the BackGround. I Believe the Power Moons Have the Same abilities as Power Stars has shown to have in Super Mario 64.
