Resistance Question

So in this verse I'm scaling the energy that people manipulate to form spells and stuff is corrupted by this substance. If you resist this substance, would you resist the energy that people manipulate for spells and the effects of their spells? Like someone would create a fireball by transforming their energy into fire. By resisting the corrupting substance, would you resist the fireball?

Why

There should be a key physiological difference between the "energy" and the "fireball" itself, so you can't equate the two. It's merely a backbone per se for the creation of matter, not all matter unified.

But I could be wrong, you need to provide more evidence however.

Not really, no.

Honestly, unless you have like, a direct statement or feat showcasing characters resisting various abilities that are made of energy, PURELY due to them resisting the energy itself, then yeah you could probably make a case. One of the xianxia novels I have does something like this, ie resisting the energy means you resist all applications of it.

Yours... Just doesn't do that, and is really vague and not enough to somehow assume they can resist all applications of the energy. Yours is mostly external stuff, ie like if that substance adds stuff like "corruption" or smth to all application of energy, resisting the substance means you resist the corruption, for example, but not the application of the energy itself. Ie Mind Manipulation via corrupted energy, you might resist the corruption, but you'd still get hit by the mind manipulation if you have no resistance to it.
