(Sorry if my English is bad)

How can we determine whether a character is serious in battle?

Does constantly smiling or laughing mean the character is not fighting seriously?

What criteria are used to evaluate this?

For example, one of the most common cases is the topic of Doma vs Shinobu.

There is a view that Doma was never serious simply because he kept smiling and laughing throughout the fight.

That question stuck in my head, which is why I wanted to ask. If it was a bad question, I apologize.

nope, not always. some character smiling or laughing cuz they felt bored or smth, some character laughing cuz they kinda love the feeling of hurt. for example like kenpachi (bleach) he laughing because he can finally use his true power against someone who same or stronger than him.

Doesn't prove it, just supports the idea is all. More would be needed, some characters could just enjoy being pushed or enjoy a fight because of the opponent.
