Will You Shatter Fate? - RP Thread

Hyde sighed

"An experiment then." He said, putting Ashe on his feet with a hand to support him
"Sir, if you would please come back to the ground and allow me to look at you, I can prove that you can walk. Please." Yuri requested, bowing.

"W-wha-?" Ashe stumbled forward as his two, trembling limbs touched the ground below, and would have very quickly fallen over entirely if it wasn't for the supportive hand at his back. Wobbling visibly, he pressed himself into the man, clearly attempting to use him to help him balance.

"...I...I d-don't...I can't..." Ashe muttered. Yet...strangely...his legs didn't give out...somehow. If Hyde had tried this in life, Ashe would have crumpled in a few moments...yet his legs were now seemingly strong enough to support his own weight.

"You can, sir." Yuri assured, "Please, try and walk towards me. If you fall down, I will catch you. I promise."

"......." Ashe said nothing for a few long moments. For the first time in...well...in a time Ashe could scarcely remember...a faint ray of hope shined through him, the young man's confidence growing as he felt the strange newfound strength of his legs. He hesitated, pondered, and paused...but, with the encouragement of the people around him.

....he let go.

With a strange, wobbling gait, he began to move forward, looking not unlike a man attempting to walk on stilts for the first time. He half walked, half stumbled towards Yuri, and, greatly underestimating his newfound speed, would likely crash into the woman before he could stop himself, if not caught.

Yuri held her arms out for Ashe to fall into, wrapping her arms around him to halt his acceleration. She rubbed one of her hands against his back.

"See...? You can walk, just fine, sir. Your heart and lungs are also completely fine... You are fine."

"Great job!" Kuthaliara said

"Good." Hyde said, walking right past them unceremoniously, this wasn't his specialty, so he just wanted to get this done

"Well done sir, now, do any of you know why we're here, together, with nobody else around?" Drew asked

Ashe....was in a state of shock, his newfound skin trembling ever so slightly with the woman's grip as he stared at the ground.

He had...walked.

For the first time in years...he had walked. Without pain, without fatigue, without weakness. Without even needing to be carried. He had dreamt about this day. Longed for it with all of his heart and soul.

"......" A rush of emotion crashed into his body, like a wave crashing against the shoreline. His lips trembled ever so slightly, the man blinking away the tears of that danced at the edge of his vision.

"...I...I'm...."

"I...I'm f-...fine..." He choked out.

"I do not know why we are here, but, what matters now is that this young man has been healed!" Yuri exclaimed, slowly releasing Ashe from her grasp as to prevent him from falling down. "I believe that is the more important matter..."

"I hope we aren't short on time, madam." Drew said, he did care, but he figured Ashe was overwhelmed enough already

"..........." Ashe wiped away his tears with the edge of his arm, hiccuping ever so slightly.

"...It's....it's...a m-miracle..." Ashe said softly. Gingerly, he took a shaky step away from Yuri, practicing balancing on his feet.

"...Wish m-my...ma and pa could s-see me now..." He murmured, his voice quivering ever so slightly.

"Amazing question! What. Is. This. Place?"

Like a loud intercom, a voice rang throughout the space, the voice of a young child to be specific. A shiver was sent down your spines... you were now being watched by something.

Ashe was suddenly shaken out of his thoughts, nearly toppling to the ground below as he felt the strange voice echo across the area. It was a phenomenon he could only assume to be an act of god, intercoms and similar technology not existing in any capacity at the time he had lived. He glanced around quickly, confusion visible on his face.

"What's goin' on?" He said quickly.

"A simple question with many possible answers..." Hyde said, already analyzing the voice

Kuthaliara hadn't felt such a feeling before, so she took a step back, on edge though her smile didn't fade

Drew said nothing, simply closing his purple eyes

Surprised by the sudden voice Hikaru looks around quickly. "Are you going to provide us with answers?" he asks.

"Yes yes... You all will have many questions, obviously. Which I, of course, will promptly answer!"

The hourglass that floated in the sky shone... And the sand began to float downward. The sparkling sand began to slowly form into something... the shape of a person. It took only a few moments for the sand to take shape fully, now fully resembling a human being in shape.

"Ah, yes... I believe this is an adequate form. Or would you all rather me take a more lifelike appearance?"

"Lifelike works." Hyde said, his eyes boreing into the being before them, analyzing her every move and action

"Yeah, what tall, dark, and spooky said." Kuthaliara said

"I don't mind either way." Drew said

"Tell us everything about this place that we can comprehend." Hyde said, he didn't expect an answer, but that was a good first thing to request

Ashe, recalling his father's stories about the gods that ruled the land and sky, attempted to bow in reverence..only to fall onto his stomach with a soft thud, unused to balancing himself. Quickly, he corrected himself, simply bowing on his hands and knees to the entity before him.

"...You can take any shape you want...m'lord." The man said softly.

"Lifelike? What is a life to you? Your power seems... greater than any I thought could exist. Surely this is death."

"What's going on here...? Is this hell?"
"Life, Death, Heaven, Hell... All concepts invented by you mortals to cope with the harsh truth of your insignificant lives. There's no such thing as hell, silly!" The mysterious being made of etheral sand said happily, "Having said that, there is no such thing as Nirvana, or Naraka, or Valhalla... All human religious constructs. Mere thoughts."

"One would assume. I was speaking in a metaphorical context. But... really? None of it? Is this all there is?"

"No, there's something more, those were theories, but this is just a small piece of the puzzle." Hyde said, unflinching

"That's cool." Kuthaliara said, while Drew shook his head

"One would assume. I was speaking in a metaphorical context. But... really? None of it? Is this all there is?"
"This...? Oh, you mean this space! This isn't the Afterlife, I have purposely brought you here! If I didn't, you'd just be floating endlessly in a void of nothing for all eternity. There's no such thing as the Afterlife."

"Is that so." The man said. This kind of knowledge always interested him.

Ashe hesitated ever so slightly, clearly a bit nervous to raise his head to such a being. Slowly, he grasped her hand, his legs trembling as he got to his feet. He whispered a quiet "thank you" before turning to the entity of sand.

"...M'lord...may I ask you a question?" He asked.

Yuri simply nodded, standing at Ashe's side.

"Feel free to ask whatever you desire, dear child." The being of ethereal sand said excitedly, emanating a... almost creepy level of enthusiasm.
