A video was recently posted online showing inside the new Superman: The Art and Making of the Film book, revealing some new pieces of information.

Heat Vision is Light:
The artbook confirms that the VFX team specifically intended for heat vision to be real light:

This is consistent with James Gunn describing heat vision as laser beams:
"The fact that he can fly and lift buildings and shoot laser beams out of his eyes was really secondary to who he was as a person and what he stood for."

As well as the Daily Planet newspaper article glimpsed in the movie that was written by Clark Kent about the "Hammer of Boravia" stating that the "Hammer" used an "ocular laser strike".

This would grant heat vision users Light Manipulation and Speed of Light attack speed via heat vision.

Ultraman:

Ultraman is stated to use Filipino martial arts, Silat, and boxing moves, so I guess he gets Martial Arts. (Edit: 'Limited Martial Arts' seems to better reflect that a large portion of his combat ability is tied to him receiving commands)

The Engineer:

Actress statement: the Engineer can clone herself multiple times, so Duplication.

The Justice Gang:

Actor statement: The team has no clear leadership and is still figuring out their dynamic, though their strengths complement each other.

Green Lantern:

  • Light Manipulation (Green Lantern power rings transform green light into hard objects)
  • Supernatural Willpower (Actor statement: using a Green Lantern power ring requires a sufficient amount of willpower, which Guy Gardner has in spades)
Mister Terrific:

  • T-Spheres: Invisibility (Actor statement: T-Spheres can cloak Mr. Terrific in invisibility and shield him from tech to render him undetectable)
  • T-Craft: Spaceflight (Described as a spacecraft)
  • Actor statement: Terrific is a polyglot and a polymath

Hawkgirl:

  • Berserk Mode (Actor statement: uses a level of rage in combat that makes her less calculated and careful compared to Superman)
  • Confirmed to be the youngest member of the Justice Gang
Note: this artbook was approved by James Gunn himself, who also wrote the introduction for it:

following, but is this art book reliable source for scaling, do we any confirmation that this an official source of information ?

If this CRT has enough approval, I will leave the implementations of this stuff up to an experienced editor.

You can just add speed of light attack speed with heat vision on the profiles with the sources linked, calcs for new speed ratings can come after
Yeah, I figured the rest of the speed stuff would have to wait for a different CRT, I just don't typically deal with the profile edits myself.

Isn’t Ultraman’s whole thing is that he has to be told what moves to do in a fight and that he basically s__ts himself whenever Luthor isn’t in his ear? I’m not really sure if we can give him solid martial arts if he’s essentially just doing fancy tricks.

So, Limited Martial Arts then?

He still managed to give Superman some trouble towards the end of the fight even without being able to receive Lex's commands, so he doesn't seem to be completely without combat skill on his own at least.
