The hunter's fighting style is extremely aggressive and prioritizes dodging attacks in close combat rather than blocking or parrying them. Alternatively, he can counter attacks with any one of his guns, which induces paralysis in those hit if they ate hit mid-attack.
Theres a big difference between 'fighting a swordsman' and 'matching dozens of hunters with decades of experience in a variety of weapons, including the person who invented all the fighting styles that hunters use, being able to beat him blindfolded, and doing all of this in a single night deapite having zero prior combat experience'
The hunters having over a dozen guns, two cannons, a bow, throwing knives and firebombs and multiple ranged spells, one of which is a homing attack, makes running away unlikely
yeah but that's the thing, the hunter doesn't need any one specific ability or weapon to win here, his stuff isn't locked to specific equipment like the Player's is. The bloodletting is just a bonus but it's not the only thing letting him win.
Do you have a scene of him doing this without player control?
