In the previous Warhammer 40k cosmology revisions 1-A Skein was rejected primarily for the following reason in this thread

"The Skein being 1-A sounds pretty unfounded to me. It sounds like the prime reasoning behind it comes from taking this scan to mean that it, like the Warp, fundamentally has no dimensions whatsoever, and that those only exist in it when forcibly imposed: She let out a soft sigh as her spirit slipped its moorings and lifted into the outermost edges of the skein, letting its familiar mosaic of pasts and futures wash over her and renew her with its liminal beauty. It had no geography, save that which she imposed upon it, though its fluid, structureless immensity was only fleetingly visible through the many barriers that separated her from its depths. A realm being described as being "structureless" and having "no geography" is not really enough evidence for that, though. All this shows is that the Skein has no concise form because it is a realm of pure mind and potentiality. The Great Dragon's true form (Which seems to be described as above the Skein) being stated to have its bulk wrapped around higher dimensions contradicts this, too: Against this vista flickered the souls of Eldar, their jewel-brightness dimmed by the incomparable glare of the Great Dragon. And this was but a tendril of the creature. The bulk of it stretched away, coils wrapped tight about the higher dimensions, joining in the distance to others, and then others again, until at a great confluence of the parts sat the terrible truth of the whole."

  • This is from the following excerpt

"Beyond the shield she saw the Great Dragon's true form. Not the hideous intrusions into the mortal realm that swam the black star sea, nor as a Farseer might see it, as a great and braided cable of malicious fate dominating all the skein. The first was merely a part of the whole, and the second psychic abstraction. What Iyanna saw was the reality of its soul. It was a great shadow when seen from afar, a wave of dread and psychic blindness that preceded the hive fleet's arrival. But the greatest shadows are cast by the brightest lights, and seen closely, the soul of the hive mind shone brighter than any sun. She was so close now that she perceived the ridged topography of its mind, larger than star systems, an entity bigger than a god. It contemplated thoughts as large as continents, and spun plans more complex than worlds. It dreaded dreams that could not be fathomed. She felt small and afraid before it, but she did not let her fear cow her defiance. Against this vista flickered the souls of Eldar, their jewel-brightness dimmed by the incomparable glare of the Great Dragon. And this was but a tendril of the creature. The bulk of it stretched away, coils wrapped tight about the higher dimensions, joining in the distance to others, and then others again, until at a great confluence of the parts sat the terrible truth of the whole." -Forges of Mars omnibus

  • This excerpt was essentially deemed an 'Anti-feat' which makes alot of sense at first glance, due to the bulk of it's tenticles are 'wrapped tight about the higher dimensions' when Lyana is seemingly perceiving it in the Skein. However Lyanna explicitly states that this isnt the case.

"Not the hideous intrusions into the mortal realm that swam the black star sea, nor as a Farseer might see it, as a great and braided cable of malicious fate dominating all the skein. The first was merely a part of the whole, and the second psychic abstraction"

  • What Lyanna is seeing is explicitly not it's state within the Skein. She appears to be viewing it's 'Soul' within the Warp and we know the Warp can have 'geography' imposed upon it so mentioning parts of it coiling around 'higher dimensions' here isn't nessacarily an Anti Feat for the Skein and more of a description of its state within the Warp.

Now to get to some supporting evidence for the Skein/Veil being 1-A.

  • The Chaos Gods in the primal state created the Skein to essentially act as a game for themselves, in an effor to limit their limitless power.

"The Deacon demanded that all beings should be mortal, so that which lived must inevitably die. He did this because he knew that then all would ultimately come to rest within the narrow houses of his domain.” The Magus forbore to name any single rule of his own and instead reserved the right to make exceptions later as he saw fit, with much grumbling from his fellows. The gods were satisfied that they had shaped the crude frame upon which mortal life would be borne, each taking a part of it eternally as their own. They went on to shape the universe as they saw fit. They made a thousand times a thousand laws; that things fall down and not up, that fire needs air to burn, that rock should be solid, that water should flow, on and on they went, now trying to outdo one another in the many ways to bring restriction upon the formless void. Their laws crystallised inside the primordial ocean and became the skein that we know as the loom of fate, and upon that skein the detritus that we know as Reality began to gather. So it was that our miserable, mortal realm was made and life stumbled forth, a plaything for the god’s sport woven from the dross of primordial Chaos by their passing whimsy. So think not to call upon the gods and have them hear your prayers, they gave us the gift of all that we are and they care nothing for it. Less than the dust beneath their feet are we."' - Three Wolf, truth-talker of the Red Hunters drill-clan, Messia.

  • The laws imposed by the Skein also define the rules of the Warp Itself and thus their avatars/realms.

"Jain Zar felt the instant of connection like a universe being born. From nothing sprang everything, a timeless loop of existence that spiralled away to the dawn of the cosmos and into the cold everdeath. All that was, is and would be sketched across the skein in broad strokes. Stars and worlds emerged and died. Civilisations of a thousand lifetimes came and went in a blink of an eye. Systems whirled and danced together to the choreography of gravity and nuclear forces, birthing nebulae, black holes and maelstroms. And she was one with it all. The secrets hidden within the interconnectedness of matter and energy that defined the universes – both mortal and immortal – entwined through the stones upon her armour. For an infinitesimal moment something touched her – the last clawing grasp of the daemon before it was scattered back to the ebb and flow of immaterial energy beneath the world unravelling around her.” Jain Zar- The Storm of Silence

  • The Skein not being on the level of the Warp doesn't make alot of sense as building the Webway within the Skein allowed the Old Ones to access the Warp directly.

"The webway passage cut towards the surface of Eileniliesh between the real universe and the otherworld of the warp." - Path of the Warrior

  • The Webway within the Skein is literally engineered out of 'Warp Space'

"Engineered from the stuff of warp space, the webway burrowed between and through the immaterial and material worlds, part of both but separate from each." - Path of the Warrior

  • The Webway resides within the Skein.

"They gathered in response to a silent call. They came slipping through the skeins of reality towards the dark place, a snarl of negativity and putrescence in the multi-dimensional lattice of the webway." - Masque of Vyle

  • The Weave/Skein is the only thing that prevents the Chaos Gods from entering reality space and the way they do this is by corrupting the Skein through corrupting the residents of reality as this is essentially more fun for them.

Notes against this.

"Doesnt this mean that anyone that fought within the Webway war is Low 1-A"

No Daemons manifesting in the Webway are vastly weakened by the psychic barriers of the Webway despite it's dissaray. The Wards and nature of the webway (the Laws of the Warp do not apply there) mean Daemons are essentially manifesting in the same state they would in reality.

"Doesnt this mean any Pysker that can do shit in the Webway is Low 1-A"

No, manipulating the substance of the Webway is something that was extroadinarily prep intensive and difficult for even a Pysker on the level of Emps. Pyskers even manifesting their power here is extroadinarily difficult due to the Webway in it's prime being almost entirely cut off from the Laws of the Warp and even from accessing it.

TLDR: The Scan deemed as an Anti-feat due to mentioning higher dimensions was taken out of context

The Skein would be '''1-A''' (Created by the abstract forms of Chaos Gods to hold the rules of the Great Game they abide by, and the source of the concepts which their avatars embody. Without the skein limiting their power, a Chaos God may simply manifest their entire personal realm into the Materium)

Why environmental destruction?
Because them affecting and destroying the skein was specifically done by a shard when it created and destroyed stars before they were supposed to be formed and after they had already been destroyed and was siphoning energy from stars across the entire timeline. Said effects were going to collapse the skein but we have no evidence to say that they can naturally affect the skein through their powers from what I've read.

Bump

I should note that 'bulk' being used in reference to it's tenticles being wrapped around higher dimensions is seemingly a contradiction but I believe the last part makes it clear that the true state of the Great Dragon/Hive-mind is something else entirely, that merely the combination of it's 'bulk' thats wrapped around higher dimensions of the warp doesn't fully describe.

The bulk of it stretched away, coils wrapped tight about the higher dimensions, joining in the distance to others, and then others again, until at a great confluence of the parts sat the terrible truth of the whole.

Okay seriously what is it with people and not calling me to ******* CRTs lately.

We literally posted it in discord haha.
I have been on a Discord break you nincompoop.

I like that Crab popped in to complain about not getting told theres CRTs and then just never actually responded to the CRT

In all actuality what exactly is this relevant to?

Also.

Something I also noted when reading the Path of Heaven is that the Webway is also noted to be located or at least constructed to probe the deeper roots of the Warp, the Stratum Obscurus.
