If any of the anime that is mentioned are particularly any of your favorites, please send them your condolences and help donate if you can. Thank you.
Please tell me more information came out and these people made it out alive somehow.
This information is primarily fake news. Don't believe it. We don't know if they are alive or dead.

If you want to keep informed on the matters, follow this Megathread on Reddit about it:

https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/ceu2ns/kyoto_animation_fire_megathread/

It contains information on who's confirmed to be alive, updates from Japanese News, response from people in the Anime Industry and Japanese Politics, statements from the CEO of Kyoto Animation who survived, etc.

Here is the list of those who are confirmed to be alive:

  • Naoko Yamada is safe according to music composer Yuu Yamaguchi
  • Tatsuya Ishihara is safe according to Shouji Gatou, author of Full Metal Panic and Amagi Brilliant Park among others
  • Animator Hisafumi Nakahara has heard that Taichi Ishidate may be safe, though asks people to wait for official confirmation
  • Yasuhiro Takemoto's status is unconfirmed; there was a previous popular tweet that was mistranslated as confirming his death but his status is still unknown
  • Yukiko Horiguchi is safe as she left the company in 2014
  • A relative of Miku Kadowaki confirms she is safe
  • /u/ultimatemegax provides more info on Eisaku Kawanami and Kazumi Ikeda, though there is still no official word on them
  • Screenwriter Yoshida Reiko is safe
  • A mother has confirmed to the Sankei News that her daughter, who was a character designer and chief animation director at the studio, is safe

Also updating this thread, a recent thread on 4chan's /a/ board may bring some light to who the arsonist was and why he commited his crime. Of course, seeing as this is coming entirely from unconfirmed anonymous sources, we must take everything said here with a grain of salt. That said, here it is:

  • Apparently, there was a train-obsessed photographer who posted daily on the train board of 2ch (Japanese 4chan equivalent, essentially) with the tagline ÒâÉÒâ¬ÒâÉÒâ¬Þª│ÕàëÒüùÒüªÒéÁÒé»ÒââÒü¿µÆ«ÒéèÒü¥ÒüùÒéçÒüå (energetically sightseeing and quickly taking pictures), abbreviated to ÒâÉÒâ¬ÒéÁÒé» (barisaku)
  • Due to the frequency with which he posted, he quickly became a meme on 2ch's train board and received the nickname "Barisaku-kun" because of his tagline
  • Then KyoAni makes an anime about girls who play in an orchestra ("Sound! Euphonium") where they use the word "barisaku" as a short for Bariton Saxophone, and the guy on 2ch apparently thinks they stole his word that he was so proud of.
  • However, what really seems to have broke the camel's back was when KyoAni collaborated with the Kyoto public transportation authorities to decorate a train with anime characters from Sound! Euphonium.
  • From then on he the guy would apparently visit 2ch's/5ch's anime board every single day to shitpost about how KyoAni ruined his life.
  • But the threads suddenly stopped yesterday.
  • And tarsonist was overheard by witnesses as shouting "They ripped me off!" over and over again.
I have no idea if this is real or just internet rumors, but it's crazy enough for me to believe in it... Jesus Christ.
