Basically, by having an environmental analysis algorithm, some hardware can analyze an entire person (and their belongings)and the environment, then use the most likely or best scenarios to neutralize their enemy. As seen in both Rick and Morty and Batman: The Telltale Series, both of their gadgets allow them to play out entire events before they happen, confidently knowing the end result with minimal work on their end, if at all.
