Well, I hope you people are ready for another quick revision to another popular character. So, why am I trying to give Crash Bandicoot here some new abilities? Case in point, Crash got a new game that was just released yesterday, titled "Crash On The Run!" (Here's a link to the main website for the game.)
Now, why is this important? Well, it mostly revolves around the main gimmick of the story. To summarize the plot, Dr. Neo Cortex has sent his minions out to conquer the multiverse, and Coco has created a "Portal Weapon" to send all of Cortex's henchmen back to their original universes. And this is what happens at the end of every single campaign run in the game. After dodging many obstacles, including the projectiles sent your way by the opposing henchman, either Crash or Coco pulls out the flask containing the Portal Weapon, tosses it at the opponent, and they just get sent zooming off into a Portal, presumably back to their dimension.
Suffice to say, this seems extremely clear-cut. Both Crash and Coco should get both Portal Creation and BFR with this new equipment from this game, though whether anything else can be garnered from this mobile app has yet to be seen, at least by me.
Oh, and just in case this happens to be an issue brought up, this game has been confirmed to be canon to the base games by the developers. So, you know, this cannot be disproven as non-canon.
