Wiki Vandalism Reports

Rolled back edits and warned.
Deleted.

Clearly a troll. Easy permaban
I want to speak on this, by the way.

I think we should instantly perma-ban less often for not-directly harmful edits. This is obviously someone ******* around with our pages, which is against the rules and annoying as hell. However, I wonder how many of these people were trying to get an edit on our wiki, given that this is a requirement to sign up here on the forum (for the uninformed, this is what we require). To sign up, they are told to make an edit. It's not a very harmful thing he did to the profile, it's just childish and stupid. Let's wait and see.

Case by case, if it's just moderate wank/downplay, I agree permaban less often. But if it's severe "Upgrade to 1-A or Tier 0 or above Omnipotence", that's a different story. Or if they're inserting blatant nonsense/gibberish or worse some words that are taboo via Fandom TOS, permaban would be in order.

Yeah, I get that. In this case the dude just screwed with the words on the page. Obvious trolls shall be shot on sight, I've no issue with that sentiment- I just don't agree with what an obvious troll is, I think.

It was a directly very harmful blatant troll edit. I definitely think that a quick permanent ban is warranted in this and other similar cases.

Also, I think that new members are asked to post a message on their wiki wall or to edit their own user page to help them get accepted. If not, that should be corrected.

If you insist, by all means.

Thank you for being reasonable. 🙏

So about this...

Rare is the new user who listens to instructions, I reckon.

At what point does an edit without an CRT become vandalism? Are all edits vandalism?

If there’s a value (ex- Subsonic) with no/little justification and I add/rewrite the justification (Ex- Subsonic (kept up with random character)) Is that vandalism?

Statistic ratings, information changes, and pretty much any major modifications. Use your common sense.

I am a non-staff user and have made hundreds of minor edits to various pages which weren't treated as vandalism. These included grammar and spelling fixes, minor wording changes, minor category additions, alphabetizing categories, adding trivial details about characters and stories, and more.

There are many options for edits that can be made that help the Wiki, rather than just making a mess for a staff member to clean up.

This looks like some ol tomfoolery.

Maybe, but I wonder if our current instructions even mention that new members should post a message on their wiki wall or to edit their own user page to help them get accepted in our forum.

Can somebody check please?

Catzlaflame handled that as well. 🙏

We've discussed this in the related chat, but our rules are here, and our attempted sign-up message was adjusted to this:

You tried to register into our forum, but did not have any edits in the wiki. Please reply to this message to confirm your account, or contact AKM sama for help: https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/Message_Wall:AKM_sama

And furthermore, please read the following page for instructions regarding how to become a productive member of this community: https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/Welcome_Message
The question is whether they are sufficiently guided to that Information page before signing up. The new signup message has had some success, but most accounts are still rejected on the basis of having no obvious signs of activity or use. Some are given time to send a message if the account appears semi-active (having a non-default profile picture, a linked Discord, etc)- in these cases they are given some days to respond to the above message.

I seem to recall discussion regarding those old automated welcome messages that would automatically send to new users of the wiki, which would be the best way to get someone a guaranteed link to the Instructions page (which is the most thorough way of ensuring people have actually read the steps), but iirc that was straight up discontinued by Fandom. I don't have any immediate ideas about how we might improve upon this, aside from perhaps further adjusting the sign-up message to include a link to the instructions for more in-depth details. I don't think the latter idea will have a substantial impact, but I'd be pleased to be proven wrong.

Thank you. I think that it seems informative enough as it is currently. 🙏

I think that we made our new signup message sufficiently informative.

One of the highest ranked Fandom staff members has rejected my requests in this area multiple times, so I, Medeus, Catzlaflame, and Garrixian will unfortunately have to continue to post welcome messages with information to new members manually almost every day. 🙁

Hum...How to explain 😭.... Well someone uploaded his calc in another language (not in english) + uploaded it as a actual VSBW page
