I will rate your fave Music: New Version

Gotcha, odd that pings are even an available function for those without staff roles if they don't work. Dunno why that link isn't working, either, but the song title is "Snow Angel" from the album The Heart is a Monster.
1) It was quite the pleasant song, peculiar. 4 points.
2) Definitely memorable, the unique notes and switch ups as well as the vocals and lyrics definitely give one something to remember. 3 points.
3) Balanced, but yet again some lyrics are harder to hear due to either being too silent or obscured by the music being louder. 1.5 points.
4) Liked it, 1 point.

Overall: 9.5 - Nearly Perfect.

Interesting, glad you enjoyed the other Failure rec. Going by your ratings on this thread, I guess you must be more into the chill/low-tempo side of things, then? But maybe not ambient drones and no-wave, where there's little melody at all. This is fun, not only for the discoveries but also for being like a hint-based guessing game.

I'll throw in one more before I let others get their recs in for a while. Nmesh is one of the most unique musicians of the 21st century, making his big break with the 2014 vaporwave album this track kicks off but having a lot of sampling & IDM style present as early as debuting in 2002. So he approaches vaporwave with skill and experience to its sound engineering instead of (just) memeing around, although this atmospheric album concludes with one of the strangest and funniest diss tracks ever ("The Unconscious Connection") regarding a certain webcritic. Also has very interesting sources sampled, this one featuring the long-late Tex-Mex queen Selena Quintanilla-Pérez as a pleasant, hazy radio memory. There's also a great visualization of this album and its sources by Bejamin Noggle/Prismer, but for those who dig this opener I recommend listening to Dream Sequins on its own first to work your imagination without visuals:

Nah, I like a cool stand-out melody with lyrics that make me interested in them. People actually haven't sent the type of stuff I really like so far.

Will listen in a bit, I have to break out the vpn for this.

This some psychedelic stuff man

1) It is pleasant. Makes me a bit uneasy but that's not a bad thing. 4 points.
2) It's somewhat memorable yeah, i'd give it a 2. The weirdness makes it more memorable than I expected. It ain't very outstanding though.
3) Balance is not really applicable here so 2 points
4) I am neutral on it - 0.5 points.

Overall: 8.5 - Amazing

Gotcha gotcha, and glad you dug the Nmesh one, too. Incidentally, I'm not much of a lyrics guy and I'm not sure what kind of themes appeal to you, but I know a group that might hit the mark. So here's ooooone more from me before letting others take the wheel for a while.

You know Vinny Vinesauce? The funni meme "speeen" guy who plays data-corrupted video games and yells at Mario Kart and stuff? His co-founded band Red Vox is unironically really, really good, not just some crummy sideshow as an attempt to be taken seriously. Some of the best pop-adjacent music of the last decade imo. And aside from some (still well-composed) joke albums such as Blood Bagel, they're surprisingly emotional with incisive lyrics. Hard to pick a single song to represent, but this is a popular one.

System of a Down -- Toxicity music video

Somehow I hadn't seen the music video itself until now. Glad you linked it. Really cool stuff, especially that shot at 3:24 turning crowds of faces into streams.

Also will mention, then ratings don't fully reflect my personal opinion. The final criteria of the rating system is my personal opinion limited to like 3 opinions. 0 means it's 5 or below for me, 0.5 is a 6-7, 1 is 8 and above.

The rating system itself is in a way kinda like a recommendation to a third person on whether it's a good song or not.

It's a weird mix of subjective and objective.

I will rate some more later, for now i'll share some of my own personal favorites, you can rate them if you want

Fun stuff. While I'm usually not into chiptune mixed with other instruments, I'd still dance to the first one in the (highly unlikely) event of it playing in a club near me. Second is PSY so I smiled. Third reminds me I should check out more Alice Cooper & his peers in general, could find some more karaoke candidates in there.

listen. the thread is subjective, I get that, but giving Sleep Token a 5.5 is crazy lol.

I'm gonna be biased here cause to me this is a classic

1) 4 points for how pleasant it is to listen to this
2) 3 points for memorability since i mean i've remembered those exact sounds for basically my life now
3) 2 for how balanced it is, I don't think there was a point where I couldn't understand the lyrics (and no I haven't read them before)
4) 1 point for the fact that I like it.

Overall: 10 - Masterpiece

1) It is very pleasant overall, no problem here, 4 points
2) I can't say it'd be too memorable, it has some peculiar notes and the lyrics are interesting as well but it's definitely not a heavy hitter - 1.5 points
3) I think it is very well balanced. 2 points.
4) I like it well enough, 1 point

Overall: 8.5 - Amazing

1) It is quite nice to listen to - 4 points
2) I don't think it is that memorable. It is probably memorable for you since it probably plays during some intense sequence but to me this is just a really cool soundtrack. 1.5 points
3) It is perfectly balanced, as all things should be - 2 points
4) 1 point. Liked it.

Overall: 8.5 - Amazing

Forget to add this with my earlier comment, but I remember how this song hits hard in my childhood

they really did cook back then, combining a sense of grandeur with a sense of adventure. Haven't played much of the game since I ain't big on shooters but its still awesome.

1) Really nice to listen to - 4 points
2) Memorable, quite. It is unique, combines unique things into one theme, ect. 3 points
3) Just has a teensy bit of crunch to some sounds, its like an old recording since like, it is decently old of a song. I don't think i'll take away points for that. 2 points.
4) I like it. 1 point

Overall: 10 - Masterpiece.

listen. the thread is subjective, I get that, but giving Sleep Token a 5.5 is crazy lol.

1) It is nice enough to listen to ig. 4 points.
2) It's certainly memorable I'd argue. I don't think i'll remember it for too long but the music is quite unique. 3 points
3) I can't hear the lyrics properly, music is too loud and blocks out the lyrics. It is a song, it should be heard. It may be a biased take but this is a biased rating. 0.5 points for balancing, music carries it here.
4) I am neutral on it. 0.5 points.

Overall: 8 - Really Good.

1) I think there's a mild dissonance, a void between the loud and clear voice and the very silent music. I think it ought to have had something in between. Still nice. 3.5 points.
2) Memorable for sure. 3 points.
3) Balanced well enough ig. 2 points.
4) Neutral on it, 0.5 points.

Overall: 9 - Excellent.

1) It is generally pleasant but that trumpet part was annoying. 3.5 points.
2) Can't say its too memorable. It is certainly unique enough but it just feels like something i would hear once and never remember. I'll give it 2 points to be fair.
3) Lyrics can't be heard properly sometimes, 1.5 points.
4) It is a tougher choice for me but ehhhh let's give it a 1 point since i more so did like it.

Overall: 8 - Very Good.

PERFECTION

8 minutes, I asked to preferrably not send more than 5-6 minute songs.
I'll listen to it as much as I want here.
I think this is more emotionally charged and wouldn't fit the rating system so I think i'll give it a more customized rating rather than just fit it under things.

I like the emotional part of the song/rap but at the same time I feel like it just jumps around the place so it's more like several songs combined into one. There are some parts that are nice to hear and yet some are more annoying (more towards the beginning). Early part really drags things down for me with stuff like lyrics that are harder to hear and just the general style of singing presented. I personally think I am neutral on it, i don't really resonate with this. Neither I think i'll remember it much. Rapwise...I have no clue how to rate it by rap fan ratings since I barely listen to rap.
I think if I had to rate i'd go 3+2.5+1.5+0.5 or in short, 7.5 - Quite Good.

1) It sounds nice I think..4 points.
2) I doubt i'll remember it much. It definitely stands out a bit but not too much, 1.5 points.
3) Balanced, no problem here. Wish there was some more music but ehh that's a nitpick. 2 points.
4) I am ok with it, 0.5 points

Overall: 8 - Very Good

Aight it is time to do the vpn required ones and hope they're worth the mild inconvenience.

1) I wasn't really a fan of how the voices sounded. It definitely worstened my experience here, the music wasn't good enough to overpower that for me. 2.5 points still, it's not the worst by far but definitely not something I like.
2) I don't think it is memorable much imho but it is unique enough to where putting it below 2 points would be dumb.
3) It is balanced, not much to say here, 2 points.
4) Not a fan. 0 points.

Overall: 6.5 - Decent

Submitting a second song 🫵

(Emergence is unfortunately too long)

1) It is nice to listen too, nothing problematic here. 4 full points.
2) I can't say it's memorable for me. That heavy metal part definitely added enough to put it at 2.5 points.
3) Can't hear the lyrics over the music sometimes. 1.5 points.
4) I am ok with it really, 0.5 points.

Overall: 8.5 - Amazing

Considering I am done with the songs that have been submitted so far, I will send some of the songs that I myself like again.

I could've sent an actual clip for the last one but I gotta keep up the Superhuman Era agenda so I can make it on this site.

I would've had sent Into the Void as it is my currently my fav Sabbath song, but it is 6+ mins long. Not that this one is much shorter though.

Your previous takes have been short of madness, although I will poke fun at the fact that you can tell a lot about a person based on how they rate video game/anime music. I change course slightly now.

...Dawg just copy+paste a link of the song and Arceus will rate it
Sorry welp I wanted to clarify if there were other rules about posting stuff... OK here's mine. (I have a lot of liked songs though... There's no particular favourite, I'll just link stuff I like in general.) (I hope it's fine if I post multiple suggestions over the course of this thread given the stuff I have in other related threads:
This would be worth looking into as well

Not sure what is gonna be done with these threads....
Questions:
Do we (we as in each and every person here) get to give/send multiple submissions over the course of this thread? (Since we might as well account for time passed and changes in taste of music or discovery of new songs.)
Also wondering if there's any language restrictions like English-only or if anything goes? (Cause I can think of music from various regional and cultural sources.)

Might as well start with old but gold.
