I fell victim of the rumor that apparently plot manipulation couldn't be used in a cross verse scenario because there is "no plot" in that instance to manipulate.since I have done some digging and figured out that wasn't the case , I wanted to ask for an explanation on how plot manipulation works in a vs matchup .
Not really. One can freely use it under reality equalization.
Is plot manipulation an ability that :
- needs scale and range to work?
Depends on portrayals. Some cases of it are more often used for hax-related stuff directly effecting the target, rather than actually creating/destroying stuff physically.
But in some cases, it may also be used to create or destroy structures entirely. That depends on showings, tho.
• can affect the reality not target
Again, depends on showings case by case.
Same as before. Though in case you're putting a 3D character with plot manip shown to only be able to use it on, like, high 3A stuff at best, you don't by default assume it can do the same to a 5D character.
Alternatively, if a case of plot manip is only shown to be capable of effecting a target within 3A range, we don't assume it can affect a target that's Low 1-C range away.
• can influence its targets to affect them selves
Depends on portrayals again. It's the same as asking "is reality warping used to affect targets directly or affect their surroundings?". While the traditional cases are the latter, we don't by default assume that's the case, especially not when it's only shown to be able to do the prior. Same with plot manipulation.
Questions

:
Cant plot manipulation characters in a battle just manipulate the plot so they can win ?
That again depends on showings. Like, let's say a character can use plot mani in-verse to make themselves win some way or another, and the highest showing is them doing it against a 3A character. That doesn't mean they can do the same against a low 1-C character or anyone higher than 3A.
How can characters with plot manipulation fight characters they don't have abilities to be able to interact with or kill ,so in a case where they are FASTER can they manipulate the plot of the fight ?
Again, depends on showings. Although most showings don't need to perceive the character that the plot Manip is gonna affect, in some rare cases the user may need to actually perceive the character to use plot manip on them. Like if they need to know the name of the character to use plot manipulation on them but they don't know it, then they can't use plot manip.
How would plot manipulate interact with HD/ QS entities if it's caster is of the lower reality
Hy default we assume they can't. But in some cases they may be able to if the verse portrays them as dimensional or qualitative smurfs.
If a character has resistance to plot manipulation and a HD/QS character tires to use said ability would it work and why ?
Not necessarily. That depends on if the plot manip itself is HD/QS or not as well. Like for example, a 1-A character may only be able to manipulate the plot of a lower reality (so it's potency is Low 1-A at best), this a non 1-A character with resistance to that kind of plot manip can absolutely resist it, assuming no layers are involved.
Examples of how plot manipulation has been used
Depends case by case. The only default assumption is that they manipulate plot, and HOW they so it depends on the in-verse portrayals. Like, we don't assume a character that has fire manip can generate flames of a million degrees by default, right? The same basically applies here.
- It can't affect targets outside it's portrayed range.
- It cannot affect qualitatively higher characters unless shown to be able to in-verse.
- It can't affect characters with certain physiologies, like NEP, AE, BDE (any type), etc. In fact, in some cases, it may not even be able to affect non corporeal entities insofar as because they don't physically exist in the normal state.
And lastly what's the Difference between Text manipulation and Plot Manipulation
Text Manipulation has various possible uses. Something as minor as Rune Magic or physically "drawing" in space itself is also text Manipulation, and so is manipulating some written narrative of a story/lower reality. Imo, Plot manip is a possible use of text Manipulation while vice versa may not necessarily be the case.
