Is this verse acceptable? Pt. 2

This one is probably more controversial than my last one so I'll just cut straight to it.

Would Rance be allowed on VSBW? The game is an eroge and not a nukige. It may have sex in it but it sure as hell isn't the main focus.

Rance first and foremost delivers a complex and comprehensive story with lots of character development. While some scenes may not be avoidable unlike Black Souls that shouldn't disqualify the series from profiles as it is not a sex driven game and is a lot more focused on the story and the delivery of it.

One rebuttal that I would like to tackle that may be brought up is "Well if the story isn't sex based then why is the main character Rance always sex driven?"

The main character's wants isn't what decides what the story is about. The whole point of the character Rance is he is an all around bad person and a parody on the classic JRPG hero who always finds himself in unexpected situations where he ends up doing great things such as saving the world or thwarting the invasion of a country. This aspect of Rance's character is meant to deliver on the comedic and eroge parts of the series. This does not mean the game is all about that content as it is much more story focused.

I would also like to share some official trailers/openings to help staff judge.







I am not here to argue about morality but rather if it can be on the wiki so anything about morality will be deemed derailing.

The series is mostly officially translated by MangaGamer aside from the last game in the series which is currently being officially translated.

Isn't Rance's main identity in relation to the sex in it though?
Plus we nuked Monster Girl Quest even though you can avoid discussing the sex in it too, and the second game if I recall right barely has any of that elements anyways

Rance's (the character) motivations isn't at all what the story is about. I already addressed that. MGQ is just a fetish game and is explicitly a nukige. Rance is just an adult video game or an eroge which is a story based game that happens to have sex in it that isn't really that relevant to the story.

The animated version completely massacred Rance and shouldn't be compared to the games.

Rance is known for being an asshole but the series by all those who play it is known for its story, gameplay and characters. It's way different than what MGQ is and the line for stuff can be quite blurry.

It is much different than MGQ. MGQ forces you into a bunch of pornographic scenes.

Rance does not, and instead has much more focus on the story. Many of the H-scenes are either avoidable or optional.

So I guess it depends on if our rules allow stuff with optional sex content that is consistent across the franchise

Level 4: Extreme - Verses that have high sexual content as the main focus of the material. Such verses are pornographic in nature and strictly unsuitable for the wiki. The majority of the media content is sexual for verses that fall under this rating.

Examples: Many hentai series.

It should be noted that material that falls under the first three levels of the scale is acceptable to be hosted on the site, under the condition that none of their explicit imagery or power-sets are placed in their profiles. Level 4 content is strictly not allowed on our website regardless of omission of explicit imagery.

Rance can work as a story completely fine without it's optional sex scenes, which means it isn't a verse whose main focus is on sexual content.

So it should be allowed here. It's just a Level 3 verse.

Hate to somewhat hurt my case here but the better way to put it is "not necessary for the story" or "it can do without". Yea a lot of the stuff is optional but not all of it. The main point for addition is that the verse's nature is not pornographic as it can do without said content and that the story and gameplay is far more relevant than the sexual content as well as being an eroge which is a story based game that has sex in it rather than a nukige which is what MGQ is. Having sex is not an inherent disqualifier though and Celestial also agrees with that as well.

It's an Eroge. A "hentai" stuff would be just straight up ****, where the main focus is ****. This ain't it, as the story functions just fine without it, and it's mostly about the story, anyways.

Also, having sex scenes isn't an instant disqualifier, as many VN's have them. Fate, Dies Irae, etc... Shit, even Katawa Shoujo, which is a slice of life, has it.
 
Everything is about story, I don't get the argument. But I think I need to create a rule for this anyway, tmr.
 
I mean we've got verses here like GTA, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Witcher and prolly Fallout etc off the top of my head that have all that being optional so there's that
