We don't assume all verses have souls, that's just used for verse equalization, like making a match of Kirito against Goku even though the former only has his powers and strength in a virtual reality game, all for the sake of entertainment.

The Priest in me wants to absolutely rail into the idea that there's no proof for souls existing (Which is actually very false) but that really shouldn't be discussed here
If we needed direct proof something existed, no metaphysical plane or abilities would ever be used, it is for versus matches sake, not real life sake.
