Hybrid Mage Addition

Not that I am interested, but if you have cold heart to remove people's work and enorm of time they consumed to make the project, sure go ahead.
I do, lol.
I understand that you may also be frustrated with assumptions being made regarding the author's intentions in the novel in question, particularly as you have invested time and effort in researching and creating pages for it. I empathize with your position and acknowledge that my perspective may not fully align with yours. However, I would like to remind you that it is important to consider multiple perspectives and strive for mutual understanding when engaging in discussions or debates.
It's also important to not make assumptions with no proof whatsoever.
When constructing an argument that pertains to the author's personal work or intention, the value or popularity of the work should not be considered as a determining factor. The quality or quantity of the work, whether it be a 1 billion dollar worth or widely read literature, is not relevant to the argument being presented that the novel can be added after the aspect of powerscaling purpose exists within the series.

It is important to note that in certain contexts, such as in China, the number of readers or viewers can be easily manipulated and should not be taken as an indicator of the work's merit.
That's one of the main qualifiers on the site though. Notability outside powerscaling and battleboarding communities.

What is the novel's notability outside of powerscaling and battleboarding forums by the way? That's a start.

Therefore, it is crucial to focus on the author's personal work or intention and not be swayed by external factors.
When accusing an entire genre of work, one should have proper facts and proofs rather than basing one's argument on speculation and personal feelings. No point of mine argues the quality or popularity of the work but the fact that powerscaling elements have been found in the work, as early as the second chapter to boot. It is known that the author is involved in powerscaling scene, he is aware of vswiki system and has used such things in his work.

So, far what we can glean from your argument is that, you feel a powerscaling series has been added and rather than removing it you feel that you have free reign to add another powerscaling series.

It is also important to note that number of readers or viewers can be easily manipulated in any such websites, regardless if originates from China or not. You would also need to show proof regarding such manipulation rather than just make speculative accusations.

So, we agree on the final point. The author's work represents his views and in this case its based on powerscaling.

So after a refresher on the Deluge of the abyss thing it appears that the main requirement is for the verse to have a notable audience outside battleboarding as Planck said. That would explain why verses like AWLBA are allowed despite having blatant powerscaling prose, while Deluge was nuked. So I guess this narrows down the aim for this thread.

Can't wait to make Balls Deep: The Origins and have Goku and Lois Lane's kid, Sephiroth Uchiha bust an infinite multiverse and have it get 1m reads.

In all seriousness, that should be a good support for adding it. Any metrics for the series?

Based on the information provided, it appears that the notability criteria for the verse in question has been met, and that it has a sufficient number of active readers. It has been brought to my attention that this information has been previously shared, however, I understand that I am currently unable to provide the relevant details, as I time is limited, and I will be going offline for the next week. I will give this responsibility to others.

At this time, the only information that I can provide to support my position is the work that I have presented in the original post (the cosmology, verse page, and physiology page).

I mean, the same argument can be used on the reddit verses that got scaled and added here. Or even Manwhas that are not necessarily famous but rather not high in tiers.

I would like to pose a serious inquiry to the community and y'all:
  • Is the rejection or dismissal of the verse in question rooted in the perception that it is excessively powerful or high in terms of tiering and abilities?
  • Or, is it a result of negative sentiments towards the author's personal characteristics?
  • Alternatively, is it due to the belief that the novel is of poor quality and not worthy of consideration?
  • Or, is it because the author does not possess a doctorate degree or official author status?
It is important to consider these factors and be honest and transparent with ourselves, in order to ensure that any decisions or evaluations are made objectively, and not influenced by personal biases or prejudices.

I am being honest here, I never ever thought of adding it after Sir Oven said, as long as there is no direct involvement with any members, then it is fine.

@Immortalgodd, I apologize if my previous statement was perceived as an accusation, that was not my intention. However, I would like to point out that the argument being presented lacks substantial evidence throughout the current thread of discussion. The author's awareness of the powerscaling aspect is not germane to the topic at hand. It is my understanding that the VsBattle Wiki (VSBW) community is well-known and respected, and it would not be reasonable to remove a significant portion of the verses without proper justification. Additionally, I would like to acknowledge that you have stated that views in China can be manipulated, and that this is an obvious fact, and therefore, no evidence is required to support this assertion.

Also, don't derail and send the rules that back up your refutation that is based on the rules, I added mines in my OP thread.

Based on what information?
I apologize for any confusion, I was addressing my response to Panck, however, I wanted to clarify that the information that I am referring to has been previously shared and discussed in another thread.

Me: "So, what metrics does the series have to show that it has notability outside of battleboard culture?"

You: "I've provided information that it has them."

Can you actually point me to what shows this is a setting that's notable?

wasn't this the verse that even after the tik tok debacle only got the traction levels of a somewhat popular fanfic...on a small amino?

I'm not seeing anything about how popular the verse is on the thread though. No numbers, links to followers etc.
Its main site has 412 followers and 50k views. 35k views in webnovel which is pitiful all things considered.

The story current has just over 50,000 views on the site it's posted on, Voyce.

It also had been on the sites trending page for months in a row now.

Links:

If this isn't enough, the verse has also been seen by millions of people on TikTok adding up all the views relating to the series.

Though most of that traction would obviously be related to the verses power, rather than other content.

Of what exactly? The Chinese Powerscaling-boarding community, of which a majority of Chinese authors are cognizant, has been the subject of a heated debate (the link is in the OP, but manifestly, you dismissed it)

Despite this, which purports to indicate that certain factors do not hold significance, I am unable to comprehend the relevance of this topic in the current context.
It's up to the author. But any author whose work is translated into English, they are famous and busy enough to not have time to power scaling.
Just the Cultivation genre with the ambition to increase power ingrained in the writing of Chinese authors. You don't have any scans where they debate with power scaling.
The most popular powerscaling forum I know has 130K followers. You say many authors join the powerscaling community with no proof

Sure. Then we'll look at verses currently on the wiki with authors that are confirmed powerscalers who make the verse for that purpose alone and delete them.
Oh boy, can't wait to delete Misfit and Parahumans due to their authors even acknowledging VS debating exists.

You understand how bad that sounds right?

I completely disagree with this verse addition as its notoriety doesn't exist outside of the "vs" wikis and battleboarding communities. It solely exist on these grounds.

If you take its Voyce.me count you have 52k views, 790 likes and 412 followers which I would say is enough to get another series added - could be an argument to add it but not when the author continues to be a debater/scaler of his own novel - which is still ongoing, that creates a way to just simply add even higher cosmology/powers, etc which then are added on the wiki by the fans.

He can say that his novel was created before being a debater, which can be true but also a lie as the basis of this thing is his words. He could be telling the truth but without power scaling the series, it woldn't have been where it is right now. At the same time, he could be lying and made it for power scaling and then once it got traction say it was made not with that intention. Both version could be true but you don't see people talking about its story but about its Tiktok scaling video about Hybrid Mage which became a talk on different Discord servers too.

The novel started even worse as I remember reading several chapters when it all just started - the powers, the scaling, and the dialogue, prose, etc looked like it was writen by a power scaler and not by someone who created it first as a story and second as a power creep. It just doesn't help his case.

Short: Disagree, as the verse only exists on the notoriety of battleboarding. The author is a debate/scaler that is working on this series - making videos of its tiering.

Ps. Don't put all the chinese novels on the same branch as Blue and White verse which is more of a fanfiction (from my perspective) than anything (I didn't participate in its talks, and will not participate). The rest of the webnovels on the wiki have coherent stories, world-building, unique settings, and characters that aren't using X Naruto characters, Y DC settings, etc. Sure not all are that good in prose and development of its characters but are original series that are published not with intention of power scaling.

Yeah I am not seeing the appeal or presence of the verse outside powerscaling communities. Should probably be rejected on the same grounds as Deluge of the abyss

I've read Worm and unless I have really bad eyes, that novel didn't drop battleboard word vomit every 5 paragraphs nor is the author a guy whose mainly a powerscaler. Can't really speak MTL Gakuin.

Really, acknowledgement is fine to me (heck there's a good chance our mainstream profiles are known to authors) but when something seems written just be high-tier for high tiers sake, it doesn't feel like it'd be a good addition.

Course, if the rules allow it then eh, go ham.

This doesn't exactly answer my question, but I can't really explain what I mean since my internet's a bit shoddy at the moment, so I'll go in-depth later.

My argument is moreso how do you prove an author had the intent of creating a verse for battleboarding? There isn't a full proof way of finding out stuff like that, and the more you look the easier it is to create double standards. Unless the author outright says he did it for battleboarding (Suggsverse), we shouldn't be so quick to deny every verse whose author dabbles in battleboarding.

Also popularity is a bogus metric as I made Zoolander profiles years ago and nobody noticed until the meme started blowing up.

zoolander literally has 60.8mil USD in box office tf you on about

Did anyone in this community know what Zoolander was before just recently? Popularity is subjective. What is popular to us, usually isn't popular to people outside the community.

Which is ironic given our stance on allowing "popular" verses only.

it is a movie that came out in theaters and garnered 45mil USD across the USA and 60mil across the world. It has a wikipedia page, an imdb page ect. You're comparing it to a story made for what seems to be battleboarding that gained 50k views on its chapters overall (not on every chapter, just the whole series got only that much) and 60 more likes than a fanfic series i cancelled back in 2021 and that is not counting side stories.

Ovens, with all due respect, you're derailing the thread by bringing up something that just barely has anything to do with the discussion. If you read just a bit of the thread, you'd realize that Hybrid Mage has a lot more stuff that proves that it was made and is being made by a person who is a massive fan of powerscaling, and has nothing to do with whatever "arbitrary second standards" you're talking about.

I don't understand the point your making here. If Zoolander was that popular then it wouldn't matter if only 1 person here knew what it was. Popularity beyond our communities is specifically the qualifier for profiles. If everyone here knew what a verse was but it only held like 400 reads and seems to be choked to the gills with powerscaler lingo then something's up.

Popularity beyond powerscaling communities is good argument, but how to calculate or decide the parameter of it ? honestly by default this problems arise due to characteristic of web novel itself.

also another problems is "fiction that does not intended for powerscalling" is kinda intersubjective..
